Settlement of outstanding debts of private individuals

We are pleased to inform you that a new law was recently voted in regarding the “settlement of outstanding debts of private individuals" and that this law is now already in effect.

According to the explanatory memorandum of the Ministry of Economy with the procedures and institutions, this bill is introducing the ability for private individuals who have outstanding debts, which will allow individuals more favorable terms and greater help in paying off their debts if they serve for four years according their income from their work, some of the debt that is determined by the Court.

With this program now being introduced in Greece, an individual can be relived from the burden of paying his debts, without the fear of losing their home or other assets. Arrangements will be made according to the individuals income levels.

This bill gives a realistic prospect of disengagement from debt to all over debt citizens. With a pioneering settlement takes great care to protect and preserve the primary residence  of the debtor, since it allows them to exclude it from the liquidation of their assets.
